General  Information

VVA Systems designs and develops data processing systems for exchanges, brokerage firms, and commodity trading advisors.

Consulting

VVA Systems is available for consulting assignments to design, build, install, and maintain commodity futures application systems.  We can help in early portions of system analysis and design, directly or through reviews to capitalize on our excellent commodity futures industry experience.  We can help design and prepare system component specifications for your programmers or we can provide programmer support for the development effort.  We provide services in system testing, data system conversions, user training and implementation. We prepare system documentation and manuals.  More under Services.

Application Experience

Our experience covers such diverse applications such as support for risk control, profitability analysis, specialized customer services, CFTC and exchange compliance reporting, international operations, and multi-currency accounting.  Our staff built back office systems used by Prudential Securities and Dean Witter Reynolds.  We built the GAINS™ System for the Chicago Exchanges.  More under Experience.

Technical Skills

We have extensive experience with IBM mainframes, CICS, COBOL, and VSAM.  We have worked with SUN workstations, UNIX, SQL and Client/Server with Windows NT, MS Access, MS Visual Basic and others.  We generally use PCs to carry out assignments.

Sub-Contracting

We are please to undertake portions of projects, either reporting to your project manager or developing sub-systems for a project contractor.  In turn, we use sub-contract programmers and designers for larger projects.

Existing Software

We have proven commodity software that may be adapted to a client’s needs.  Sub-systems for such functional area as Customer Statements, Interest, Risk Control, Margins, Mass Trade Allocation, and Clearing Interface are available. Recent additions are Floor Brokerage Payables and Give-Up Accounting/Invoicing.

Project Size

VVA is available for all projects, from single programs to existing systems.

Project Location

VVA’s main project assignments have been done with firms located outside of Chicago.  We are accustomed to traveling and appreciate when a project requires face-to-face interaction.  Most development work has been done in Chicago, using terminals connected to out-of-state clients and using off-line PC development tools.

Development Methodology

We use system development methodology that has well defined steps and procedures.  Business requirements documentation, general and detailed system design, program development, unit integration testing, user test catalogues, conversion and implementation are steps necessary to provide properly planned and executed information system development.  We are accustomed to use

Consulting Costs

Our services are cost effective and our rates are reasonable.  Considering training and fringe benefit costs, VVA may be less expensive than in-house resources.  Existing VVA designs and programs may further reduce development costs.
